Family and Adult Services
CommonBond supports your success with a variety of Advantage Services programs designed to assist parents with children and adult residents to achieve individual and family goals; to connect you with local community resources; to develop and improve your job search skills, obtain employment, and discover your career path; and to promote and support adult education, citizenship, and literacy activities.
We have dedicated professional program staff and trained volunteers at most family housing locations. These staff members provide an array of adult and family services that can include:
Employment and Financial Stability
Our employment programs offer comprehensive job readiness, job search, and professional development services that help working-age adult residents achieve career and income goals. Services include:
- Work-readiness counseling and seminars
- Connection to job training
- Job seeking skills training
- Job clubs
- Job placement and connections with employers
- Career advancement & career path development
- Financial literacy education & financial coaching
- Support to retain and advance in employment
Education
Adult educational opportunities include:
- English Language Learning classes for adults of all ages and English skill levels
- One-to-one adult tutoring classes
- Citizenship classes
Individual services
If you have a need or concern, you may talk with an Advantage Services Coordinator assigned to your location. Advantage Services Coordinators are credentialed professionals who are trained to assess your needs, to provide information and support, and to resolve your situation or connect you with other community resources that can help you resolve it.
Community
Advantage Service Centers help organize community-building events that feature cultural activities and community-wide celebrations such as National Night Out. These events are of course optional and occur at many CommonBond housing sites to highlight the pride residents take in calling our communities “home."
Services provided free of charge
As a resident of a CommonBond family community, you and your children have access at no cost to on-site Advantage Services. These services vary by housing community, but most CommonBond family housing communities have a designated space on-site for Advantage Services called an Advantage Center.
Convenient resources
Most CommonBond properties include an on-site computer lab within the Advantage Center and an outdoor playground for adult residents and their children. Most services listed above are offered on-site or in a nearby CommonBond location. Please check with specific properties for more information about the Advantage Services options that each offers.
