Housing development and property management have been CommonBond’s primary lines of business since 1971. The development staff members have worked collaboratively across the affordable housing industry and are seasoned professionals experience in all types of real estate development.

Thomas Stanberry, Executive Vice President of Real Estate

Thomas is responsible for real estate development and asset management activities, leading the organization’s efforts to grow and diversify its portfolio.  This includes adding unsubsidized affordable rental housing and mission investing opportunities to a considerable subsidized housing portfolio built over CommonBond’s 45 year history. His professional career spans 35 years and includes multiple leadership roles in the business, financial, and legal sectors. Most recently, Thomas was a shareholder in the law firm Davis, Brown, Koehn, Shors and Roberts, P.C. where he practiced in the areas of financial transaction and government relations.  From 2003 to 2009, he was the Chairman and CEO of West Bancorporation, Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiary West Bank, in Des Moines, Iowa. Prior to joining West Bank, Thomas worked for Piper Jaffray, Inc. in various roles including the head of the fixed income capital markets division and as a senior investment banker.

Cynthia Lee, Associate Vice President of Business Development

Cynthia Lee has 29 years experience working for the city of Minneapolis, Community Planning and Economic Development. As Manager of the Multifamily Housing Development Department from 2001 to 2007, she was responsible for the development and financing programs for multifamily rental and ownership housing project. Her department also administered the HOME, CDBG, ESG, NRP, EZ and tax increment funds; the multifamily housing revenue bond program; low income housing tax credits (as sub-allocator) and various other programs.

Amanda Novak, Associate Vice President of Business Development
Amanda Novak is responsible for identifying and overseeing the development and financing of CommonBond’s housing pipeline. As the first point of contact for CommonBond’s Banking and Investment partners, Amanda utilizes her experience with conventional and innovative capital structures to ensure that all projects receive consistent, competitive financing and equity terms, laying the foundation for the long-term success of CommonBond’s portfolio. As AVP, she mentors and manages CommonBond’s strong project management team.   Amanda’s work is integral to the implementation of CommonBond’s regional strategy for creating a continuum of affordable housing options.

Andy Hughes, Senior Project Manager
Andy Hughes’s responsibilities include business development for new real estate and vendor, lender, and investor opportunities, and project management and due diligence for new projects. Andy has a focus on markets in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Prior to joining CommonBond, Andy worked for Sherman Associates, Inc., TCF Commercial Bank, and Minnesota Housing. Andy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Arts degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

Diana Dyste, Housing Development Manager
Diana is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive business development strategy that includes the development of new real estate projects and the acquisition of existing housing sites, with or without subsidy. Diana leads the planning, financing, and development of affordable housing communities, with specific focus on historic rehabilitation and adaptive reuse projects in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa.  Prior to joining CommonBond, Diana worked for Sherman Associates, Inc. and the Rondo Community Land Trust. Diana holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Architecture – Heritage Conservation and Preservation from the University of Minnesota.

Justin Eilers, Project Manager
Justin’s responsibilities include creating comprehensive development strategies for acquisitions of existing housing and new construction projects. He leads the planning, development and construction team that includes the owner, architect, general contractor, attorney and internal staff. He prepares financial analyses, assembles financing and monitors development expenses to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethel University and a Master of Arts degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. He has 6 years of experience in housing and community development.

Bob Mueller, Director of Construction Management
Bob Mueller’s responsibility as Construction Project Manager within Acquisition and Development is to coordinate and supervise the construction process from pre-construction through project completion.  Bob has over 30 years experience in construction management and 11 years of consulting to non-profit organizations, multi family, senior and commercial owners and developers, providing construction management, facility analysis, asset strategic planning and technical services to meet critical business and organizational needs.  He has worked with non-profit assisted living and nursing home clients in the development of pioneering elderly care and hospice housing.

Tammie Fallon, Construction Project Manager
Tammie’s responsibility as Construction Project Manager is to coordinate and supervise the construction process from pre-construction through project completion.  Tammie has over 14 years of experience in construction management.  Project types include commercial, multi-family, religious, and restaurants.  For the past 11 years, the majority of her projects have been multi-family housing, including CommonBond’s Riverview Apartments.
