CommonBond Communities Executive Leadership

Thomas Adams, Ph.D.

Executive Vice President of Housing and Services

I believe in the interconnectedness of all people. Helping families find stability in housing is a fundamental step to building vibrant communities.

Thomas Adams, Ph.D. is CommonBond’s Executive Vice President of Housing & Services. In this role, he oversees all aspects of property management and resident services across three states.

Most recently he was the CEO of Better Futures, an organization that seeks to change systems that lock men—primarily African American men—experiencing homelessness, incarceration, and behavior health issues into long-term dependency. Dr. Adams has over 30 years of human and social service experience. He has worked with African American Family Services, the Association of Minority Health Professions Schools, Summit Academy OIC, Pillsbury Neighborhood Services, and The Bridge for Runaway Youth.

Thomas brings a mix of nonprofit business management, mission-driven continuous improvement and strategy, and a commitment to racial equity to this role at CommonBond. He is a Leadership Program graduate from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and holds a Ph.D. in organizational leadership from Regent University.

Favorite room in my house:

My favorite room in my house is the kitchen.  It’s a gathering place where stories, traditions, culture, and love are shared.

Why this work matters:

People matter; Families matter; Communities matter.  The often cited meaning of the African word Ubuntu – I am, because WE are – calls me to do this work.  I believe in the interconnectedness of all people.  Helping families find stability in housing is a fundamental step to building vibrant communities.

Home is:

A place that provides safety, comfort, and nourishment to the mind, body, and spirit.
