Fall into creativity with our FREE Arts & Aging classes exclusively for CommonBond residents aged 55 and older!
Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just starting out, our classes offer a fantastic opportunity to explore your artistic side in a supportive community setting.
In-person Classes
Join our in-person classes! They’re open to all CommonBond residents who are 55 or older and live in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.
To join a class, you just need to be able to get yourself to the location of the class in the Twin Cities metro area (refer to our transportation resources section below for help).

Clay — Global Hand-Building!
With Teaching Artist Elizabeth Coleman (Northern Clay Center)
This IN-PERSON class embarks students on a worldwide journey of ceramic art in this eight-week course. You’ll learn hand-building techniques to create clay vessels inspired by various cultures and traditions. Perfect for beginners and experienced potters alike, this class offers a supportive community atmosphere where you can explore global ceramic styles. All materials are provided, allowing you to focus on shaping and decorating your unique creations. Please note that this class is a special partnership with the Northern Clay Center, bringing expert instruction to our community.

Online Classes
Our online classes are open to ALL CommonBond residents who are 55 or older.
To join an online class, you need to have an email address, a tablet or computer, and access to the internet. If you need help with these items, please indicate it on the registration form.

Watercolors — Birches!
With Teaching Artist Judy Cline
This ONLINE class invites students to explore the beauty of Minnesota’s iconic birch tree through watercolor painting. Participants will delve into various techniques to capture the essence of these majestic trees and their surrounding landscapes. In addition to watercolor, students will learn to use masking, pen and ink, and other creative tools for recreating natural textures and sylvan scenes. All materials are provided free of charge, allowing you to focus on your artistic journey without worry. Join us to celebrate the natural beauty of Minnesota through art in this engaging and accessible online course.

Life Writing!
With Teaching Artist Rachel Moritz
This ONLINE class explores writing from the well of memory, commonly known as memoir or life writing. Over the course of 8 weeks, we will explore and tap into memories of the important stories that have shaped our lives. Each class will be designed around a theme, with in-class reading prompts, discussion and writing time to spark imagination. Together we will explore and draft short vignettes about childhood and family, work and vocation, life transitions, challenges and joys. Writers of all backgrounds and abilities are welcome; no prior experience is necessary.

Transportation Resources
