You may have seen that we partnered with The DGS Foundation and The Dark Clouds for the 2023 Minnesota United soccer season. The Dark Clouds are the largest supporters group of Minnesota United FC (MNUFC). The DGS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) that partners with and expands the philanthropic and volunteer efforts of MNUFC supporters groups and fans doing good in the community.
Together, The Dark Clouds and DGS run a program called the Dark Clouds Charity Club Card, or D4C. This program collects pledged donations which then go to a selected nonprofit organization. We were incredibly proud to have been the D4C recipient for 2023!
This means that the D4C allowed MNUFC fans to pledge donations for each disciplinary card received by players during games, which ‘gets good results out of bad behavior.’ It is a lighthearted way to engage fans while doing good in our community.
Soccer fans – or anyone looking to do good – could visit their website and pledge any dollar amount for each yellow and red card earned by an MNUFC player during the 2023 season. At the end of the season, all funds collected were donated to CommonBond Communities!
We are pleased to announce that we have received $3,800 in pledges. Thank you, DGS Foundation, and all those who made a pledge during the season! Your support means we can continue to build stable homes and strong futures for CommonBond residents.
Even better, we are happy to announce that the D4C recipient for the 2024 season will again be CommonBond. We, the DGS Foundation, and the MN Dark Clouds are excited to see where the partnership leads this year, and are thrilled to be involved once again.
