CommonBond Communities CEO and President, Deidre Schmidt, has been named one of the “2020 Most Admired CEOs” by Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. Deidre is among 10 Minnesota honorees recognized for professional achievements, community involvement, and overall leadership. She has been the CEO of CommonBond since 2014.
Deidre possesses a unique mix of experience in technical, transactional, and business planning, as well as organizational development and policy formulation in both US domestic and international contexts. She’s also a frequent public speaker and expert panelist at various convenings.
“What makes Deidre so exceptional is her authenticity and depth as a human being,” said Kyle Hansen, Executive Vice President at U.S. Bank, and former CommonBond Board chair. “She has demonstrated outstanding leadership and positioned CommonBond as a leading organization in tackling the issue of housing—one of the toughest and most important issues we face as a community.”
Deidre holds two personal values above all others: respect and responsibility. She believes respect is about recognizing every person’s intrinsic value and potential to contribute; and responsibility is about using your own talents and advantages to achieve something for others. As the CEO of CommonBond, she strives to ensure the nonprofit embodies both. She is deeply committed to fostering an equitable and inclusive organization and work environment. Under her leadership, CommonBond has grown to provide quality affordable homes and support services to more than 13,000 families, veterans, seniors, and children every year.
The 2020 Most Admired CEOs will be featured in a special edition of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal on September 18, as well as online. An event to honor their achievements is set for September 17 at Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis.
