September Decade Reflection: Featuring the 1980s

For the month of September we are bringing you another #CBC50 reflection, this month featuring history from the 1980s. During the ‘80s, we expanded our services side of the organization by hiring social workers, teachers, community organizers and other human service professionals. This laid the foundation for our resident services program, which is now a distinguishing feature of our communities.

We focused heavily on building out our property management model. During these years we took on Red Rock Manor in Newport as our first suburban development, followed shortly by South Haven in Edina. Yorkdale Townhomes was purchased to keep it from turning into market rate housing.

We also took over the Torre de San Miguel property in St. Paul, which was at risk of foreclosure. We’re proud to say that it is still a thriving community today.
